REHEARSALS

Concert Band rehearsals:

  • Monday afternoons 3:15pm – 4:00pm in the hall

  • Thursday mornings 7:30am – 8:45am in the hall

Students are expected to arrive on time so they can set up the hall ready for rehearsal. Every rehearsal requires a parent/ carer volunteer to supervise and parents will be rostered on by the parent coordinator. Their role is to assist in the running of the rehearsal under the direction of the conductor.

COST

The Band Program is self-funding. The band fees pay for our conductors, sheet music, band folders, our annual music workshop (Music Mania) and performance fees.

Band fees are assessed every year and communicated to parents in a Band Fees Schedule.  Additional fees are payable for Music Camp (Term 2), and will be communicated separately.

Instrument hire (optional) is invoiced per semester, and those fees cover instrument purchases, insurance, annual servicing and maintenance. Percussion fees are separate and invoiced annually to contribute to maintenance of the percussion suite, which remains at school for student use.

Band fees are to be paid annually in Term 1 and invoices are sent via email. On request, band fees can be paid by semester. Anyone experiencing difficulty in paying fees on time should contact the Band Treasurer or Band President as soon as possible prior to the due date for the fees, to agree a payment plan.

We accept the NSW Creative Kids Voucher.

TUTORS

Students are required to continue tutoring each week with a teacher specific to their instrument.

You can source your own tutor or use our list of tutors which will be distributed early in the year.

WHAT TO BRING TO REHEARSAL

  • Instrument and accessories

(drip cloth, lip cream, cork grease, spare reeds, valve oil, amps, leads etc)

  • Music Folder

  • Sharp pencil

CONCERT BAND PARENT CO-ORDINATOR

We need one parent to volunteer as the Concert Band Parent Co-ordinator. This parent will:

  • Liaise with the conductor, committee and teachers.

  • Communicate with parents about upcoming events and general information as well as organise a roster for parent/carer helpers during rehearsals.

This is not an intensive role and the amount of work is mainly focussed around setting up a roster at the beginning of each term. In addition, your help may be required when organising performances throughout the year.
